On the eve of World Consumer Rights Day, March 12, 2025, a workshop titled “Consumer Rights” was held at the Stjepan Sulimanca High School in Pitomača, led by Dr. sc. Zrinka Blažević Bognar. The aim of the workshop was to educate students about their rights as consumers and to provide real-life examples of how these rights can be violated in practice.
During the workshop, students had the opportunity to learn about basic consumer rights, such as the right to information, protection against unfair business practices, the right to complaints and returns, and the protection of personal data. Special emphasis was placed on real-life examples from everyday life, where students could see how certain traders and service providers fail to comply with legal provisions and how consumers can protect themselves in such situations.
The workshop was interactive, and students developed critical thinking about the importance of protecting their consumer rights through discussion and practical examples. This educational meeting helped them better understand the mechanisms of consumer protection and encouraged responsible and informed participation in the marketplace.
Holding such workshops contributes to raising young people’s awareness of their rights and responsibilities in the consumer world, promoting responsible and informed behavior in future generations.
