From June 6 to 10, 2022, we participated in the 2nd International Staff Training Week held at the University of Mostar. Organized by the university’s International Cooperation Office, the event brought together 30 participants from partner universities in Spain, Austria, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Germany, and Croatia.
The week began at the Faculty of Medicine with the official opening and presentation of the university, followed by a tour of the dental clinic and a showcase of the English-taught medical study programme. Other multilingual study options at the university were also presented.
On the second day, we visited the Faculty of Humanities, where presentations were held on COVID-19, university support services for students with disabilities, and the university’s IT center. We also toured the Smart Campus, university TV and media center, and the Learning Factory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Computing and Electrical Engineering. We held productive meetings with the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture representatives about potential cooperation.
On the third day, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Široki Brijeg, Ms. Elena Eyngorn from Technische Universität Berlin gave an online lecture on writing successful Erasmus+ and Horizon project proposals. The University of Mostar presented its Erasmus+ projects and shared best practices from other EU-funded initiatives.
The fourth day was spent at the Faculty of Science and Education in Rodoč, where Prof. Irene Zavrl from the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland (Austria), coordinator of a PhD consortium, presented a joint international postgraduate programme in International Economic Relations and Management and Educational and Communication Sciences, in which the University of Mostar is a partner.
We also attended a presentation by Dr. Ivona Peternel from Juraj Dobrila University of Pula on internationalisation through project development.
To conclude, we had the opportunity to taste wines and products prepared by students of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences and Faculty of Food Technology.
We both agree that participating in the Erasmus+ programme, whether as students or staff, is something we will remember forever. It provided us with new knowledge, improved our foreign language skills, and helped establish new partnerships.
This event was a unique opportunity to promote our university to other European partners and to strengthen international cooperation networks.
