On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Croatia, Gary Koren, visited the Virovitica-Podravina County. During his visit, Ambassador Koren also toured the Virovitica University of Applied Sciences, where he was welcomed by the Vice Dean for Business and Finance, Dr. sc. Damir Ribić.
On this occasion, the ambassador was presented with the key features of the University, its study programs, and the various activities aimed at education and cooperation with the business sector. Discussions also focused on the potential for future collaboration between the Virovitica University of Applied Sciences and Israeli educational institutions, especially in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital technologies.
Ambassador Koren’s visit to Virovitica also included a working meeting with representatives of the county and city authorities, a tour of the site of the former Virovitica synagogue, and a visit to the Jewish cemetery, where he learned about the history of the Jewish community in the region.
Ambassador Koren expressed his satisfaction with what he had seen and emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural and educational ties between Israel and Croatia.
